CSW:SALT

This page is used for protecting nonexistent pages against creation.

Pages transcluded on this page may not be created (except by admins). Usually this is because the page titles were being repeatedly created by spammers or because the community has decided a page should not exist and users were repeatedly creating it.

Only administrators and Wikia's community staff are able to list titles here.

To add a page:

  1. ensure this page (project:Protected titles) is protected with cascading protection enabled.
  2. delete the page to be protected
  3. list the page in the section below inside curved brackets like this: {{Article title}}

About

SALT is a system where deleted articles that are continually created can be fully protected to prevent creation (note that you cannot use standard procedure [clicking "Protect"] to protect deleted articles. Instead, you link to the page on this page, which is fully protected with cascading enabled. Simply use {{:Pagename}} (do not forget the colon before the name of the page) to SALT pages in the article namespace. The term is derived from the process of the same name on Wikipedia, which is derived from the saying "Salting the Earth", in which an invading army would destroy enemy crop fields by spreading salt on them, preventing crops from growing there.

Note that you must be an administrator to SALT pages.
Please do not use this for protecting existing pages; instead, use the normal process

WARNING: Salting a userpage only prevents that user page from being created, it does not prevent a user from creating an account with the same name, also, you do not need to salt every page you delete on the wiki, you should only salt pages that have been recreated after deletion (in a vandal or spamming style), or if the page has a high risk of being recreated. Abuse of this feature will be handled as abuse of page protection powers, and may result in de-sysoping.Since the installation of MediaWiki 1.12.1 on Wikia, this page is now obsolete and may now be protected using the "old school" method by clicking the "protect" button.
